THAT WAS AN INTERESTING ARTiCLE
IT MAKES SENSE
BUT WHY CANT YOU SAY HUMANS JUST HAPPENED..THE WAY GOD DID
LIKE YOU SAID- OUR BRAIN CANT HANDLE IT TO FIGURE OUT HOW WE WERE CREATED..
AND THEREFORE, WE USE GOD AS OUR REASON FOR EXISTENCE, BECAUSE IT IS MUCH EASIER TO BELIEVE SOMEONE ELSE CREATED US AND IT MIGHT MAKE SENSE TO MANY PEOPLE... BUT NOT TO ME- I CANT ANSWER HOW HUMANS WERE CREATED, BUT NEITHER CAN YOU OR ANYBODY ELSE- THERE IS NO PROOF OF A GOD AND I DONT BELIEVE WHAT I CAN SEE, TOUCH, HEAR OR EXPERIENCE FOR MYSELF.

For some reason people have been asking my opinion of this allot lately, how to explain belief in God.
Please be aware that a sociological theory of religion would have it that religion is the "great teddy bear in the sky", since religion is viewed as providing some power group with control over others keeping them quietly subdued with some ruse or other.
SORRY, Judaism the oldest and original ethical monotheism is a religion characterized by individual responsibility, and never had a ruling class trying to continue some power ploy through its religious rulings. The claim of the Jewish tradition is that we had contact as a group with the eternal almighty creator and he entered in to a pact with us on behalf of all mankind to for fill commandments.
All this has nothing to do with the human need for belief, we live in a universe created in a pattern we recognize as containing organization and "intentionality" any other explanation of existence must answer why in any possible "randomly existing" world could there be any order, life, or conscious beings, all clearly defying the miniscule possibility of being present by chance.
Also as I understand Judaism you can experience God for yourself, by doing any mitzvah (commandment) with proper intentions particularly the study of Torah, which I see as, a difficult to describe, everyday experience in the life of a religious Jew, or in the words or our Rabbis, "he who whishes to see the presence of God should study agadah (Jewish lore) in Eretz Yisrael."
I think that any open minded Jewish person who sincerely trys could develop this sense of Gods existence and truly have a personal sense of spirituality and living in a created world. The truth is though, this conclusion is a bit shocking and very resisted by many modern minds, so few people starting out with "prove it to me" ever really get to an open minded starting point. It is like some bitter rejected single person saying, love is really only mutal selfishness, well the moment that person finds someone who fills them with a feeling of compassion and willingness to give and care, there will be no doubt left in their mind that love really exsists. But love is an intangeble and so is the eternal one blessed be he, only his will is what sustains exsistance, like the soul animates the body.
Let one idea remain clear, we did not "somehow come up with" a God concept, we are the descendents of the great and well known followers of the ancient claim of human contact with God even from before the establishment of the Jewish religion. There are no historians who deny that such claims existed since ancient times
