Hello,
My first son was born on Kislev 10, at about 12:20pm (afternoon). Neither my my wife nor I are kohanim or Leviyim (or related to such).
The 30'th day to the delivery is Tevet 10.
My question:
Should we do the "pidion" on Tevet 10 during the day, or should we wait until the evening (i.e, "Or le-11 Tevet")?
If we do the pidion on Tevet 10, can we eat in that day (although it's a fast on normal circumstances)?
Is the answer dependant of various customs, or is the answer definite?
Please answer asap. I can read Hebrew on my computer, but can write in English only.

קודם כל מזל טוב! שירבו שמחות במעונכם.
אין עושים פדיון הבן ביום השלושים ללידה, אלא ביום השלושים ואחד - דהיינו שלושים יום מלאחר יום הלידה. לכן עליכם לעשות פדיון הבן בתאריך י"א טבת. בכל אופן רצוי להתייעץ עם הרב שלכם לגבי אופי הפדיון וכו'. בנוסף יש לציין שאם התינוק נולד בניתוח קיסרי - אין עושים פדיון. כמו כן, הרב יכול לייעץ על כהן וכמה כסף יש לתת עבור חמשת הסלעים.
